Latinx leaders in our community are raising their voices to ask for a public intervention to reach Latinx communities who have the highest risk of sickness, and hospitalization from COVID-19 to be vaccinated to control the pandemic. Latinx have received only 2% of the vaccinations in our state but are 32% of the cases of COVID19.
Latinx and our brothers and sisters from the black, American Natives and Asian communities face many structural barriers to get vaccinated, such as limited English Proficiency, lack of transportation, lack of insurance, lack of access to hours where our essential workers can go to the location to get the COVID-19 shot without suffering a retaliation such as loss of a day of work.
